GeorgeSquared ABS Students

The GeorgeSquared (G²) Advanced Biomedical Sciences partnership between Georgetown and George Mason University is a pathway to a medical or other professional school admission.

Students who complete the G² nine-month ABS Graduate Certificate program can apply to continue on to the Georgetown M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics program and earn the degree in one or two semesters.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for admission to the Georgetown M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics program through the G² partnership, students must successfully complete the ABS Certificate program with a minimum final GPA of 3.0 in the ABS program and a B- or better in both Anatomy and Physiology. Courses where a student has earned a C or lower cannot be used as transfer credits toward completion of the M.S. degree. Applicants must also have completed all of the undergraduate pre-health prerequisite courses.

Please note that current ABS students may experience a delay in decision on their applications until exam scores can be provided during the spring semester of the ABS program.

International students: Note that international students on F-1 student visas have limited eligibility for the M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics due to F-1 visa restrictions. Please contact the program before submitting your application.

Apply to the M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics – G² Pathway

When completing the online application, make sure to choose “Physiology and Biophysics – Regular Program (M.S.) GeorgeSquared” as the program.

G² Pathway Application Deadlines

Spring (in-person): Apply by November 1. Program starts in January.

Summer (online): Apply by May 1. Program start to be announced.

Fall (in-person): Apply by July 1. Program starts in late August.

G² ABS students and graduates must apply and be accepted into the M.S. program. Read our application instructions and submit your application through the Georgetown Graduate Application Portal. Note that as a G² student, you are eligible for our affiliation-based tuition fee waiver.

Curriculum

The 20 credits earned in the G² ABS Certificate program can be transferred to the M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics program, allowing you to earn the master’s degree in one semester (summer or spring) or two semesters (fall-spring). We are the only M.S. program that accepts 100% of the ABS credits. View the G² Example Degree Plans to choose your schedule.

Course Requirements

G² M.S. students must complete 8 credits of required courses and 2 credits of electives (if the elective was not taken in the ABS program).

Please note that M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics students are not permitted to add extra electives beyond the graduation requirements, with an exception for taking a 3-credit elective to meet the 2-credit requirement. Please direct any questions about this to the program director.

Core lecture courses (Pathophysiology and Neurophysiology) and most electives are taught during the daytime (morning and early afternoon). There is no evening-only completion option. G² students planning to work part-time while completing their master’s degree should make arrangements with work ahead of time in order to attend lectures and take exams. We cannot make accommodations for work conflicts.

Tuition

Students pay the Biomedical Graduate Education cost per credit hour. Multiply the per-credit cost by the number of credits you need to complete.
